P&G Championships

The P&G Championships of gymnastics is the ultimate competition of the year for elite gymnasts. This year the P&C Championships will be held in Pittsburgh, PA between August 21 – 24, and will be presented by CoverGirl and Gillette. The P&G Championships were formerly known as the VISA Championships, and in the past, have all been won by gymnasts that went on and did amazing things for the sport of gymnastics.

Some of the past champions of this competition are Kim Zmeskal, Shannon Miller, Domonique Dawes, Domonique Moceanu, Shannon Miller, Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin, Bridget Sloan, Rebecca Bross, Jordyn Wieber, and Simone Biles. This competition truly is the best in the U.S. going up against the best in the U.S.

Although the lineup for gymnasts that will be attending and competing at the P&G’s this year isn’t out yet, you can take a few guesses at who you may or may not see there. Sr. Elites and Jr. Elites around the nation are out there competing and trying to qualify for this prestigious competition. With the nearest competition being the American Classic coming up, we have heard that Jr. Elites, Maile O’keefe (who our daytime girls had the honor of training with a few weeks ago) Deanna Soza, Nia Dennis, and some new faces like Delanie Harkness, Shania Adams, and Shilese Jones will all be going up against each other for a spot in the P&G Championships!

As for us, we hope to see some of our homestate favorites like, Bailey Key and Peyton Ernst of Texas Dreams, Madison Kocian of WOGA, Simone Biles of World Champions, and (even though she’s not from our hometown) Gabrielle Douglass, 2012 Olympic All-Around Champ! We’d
